What is a urinary tract infection (UTI)? A urinary tract infection is an infection affecting any part of the urine passage: the kidneys, bladder or the urine tube (urethra).
What are the symptoms of a UTI?
- a high temperature (above 38ºC)
- excessive tiredness
- unpleasant smelling urine
- burning stinging or pain when passing urine
- passing urine frequently with only small amounts each time
- abdominal pain
- back pain
- blood in the urine
